Culture N Sucsess
April 9th, 2008 by jhonnya
Things that I put inside a box are:Mexican reciepies, set of clothing for a charro, and Mexican music. As you can probly tell already that I come from a Mexican background these things are things that I think makes the Mexican culture unique. The first thing i would inside a box it would be a book of Mexican reciepies because our spicy and awsome chili for spic and taste. An other thing I would in the box is a set of clothes of a charro, which is a person that drops down a bull ina rodeo, to see the my traditional festavial clothing. I would also put Mexican music so that people can see how different and unique our music is.
Sucsess is something that can be accomplished in many ways. I believe you can achieve this by getting education, religion, life, family, and health. but it really matters what you think you goal and decide if you accoplished your goal or not, so really it’s all you do it to it I always say. You an also can sucsessed by getting a good job for your self and a family der to push to continue in your studies sometimes you need dat extra push but at times if you do it your self witout being reminded then you have accomplish alot because you just became responsible and self confident that is my goal and that is what sucsess is to.

3 Aspects of My Culture and What is Sucsess
April 8th, 2008 by jhonnya
The three things i would put inside a box would be Mexican food recipes so that people could see our ways of cooking or even try to make it. A set of clothing for Charros, which are guys on horses catching the bulls, so they can see my costumes of my Mexican American family. I would also put a type of Mexican music inside to hear our rare sounds of music and beats.
Success is a way of feeling that you have complete your journey in life that you feel happy. It also involves Religion and without health, family you wouldn’t be able to enjoy any of the best things in life. Also education because you can succeed in your life with knowledge, which prepares you for the future

Wallace v. Jaffree
April 2nd, 2008 by jhonnya
Wallace v. Jaffree was a Supreme Court Case about a parent and the child. A parent was suing a public school for having religion as meditation for the children. The parent said that the law2 of praying in public schools was breaking the 1st Amendment. The 1st Amendment states that no law can be put that forces someone to study a new religion and not study their own. It also states that people can not put religion in a school or in any other place without permission. So when this case went to the District Court, it was passed. When it went to the Court of Appeals, they said that the law was unconstitutional. They said that this law was going against the 1st Amendment. When it went to the Supreme Court, the results came out to be 6 to 3. So, at the end of this case, the law from the school was not allowed any more.
What I think about this case is that it was a good idea to take away the law. I think that it is not fair for the public school to have prayer when the parent did not want it. The school could have had something else for meditation instead of prayer. Every person has the right to say if they want religion in the school for their children. They also have the chance to say if they don’t want religion in the school. It is not fair that the government of the state to put a law that gives the school permission to allow prayer if parents don’t want to. As I said before, the parent has the right to let their child have prayer in their school only if they want to. This is why I am against this case. -Eduardo-
What I think about the case is that the child involved in this case didn’t have to have any part in the prayer. The minor could have gone to a different room or could have done some other method of peace and meditation. The parent of the minor could have just asked the teacher to excuse the minor from the meditation. The minor could have had asked the principal what activities other than meditation he could have done. This would have prevented this problem from going to the Supreme Court. That’s why I am for this case. -Jonathan-
